Emily says

“There are so many voices in the archive; where do you start? I have tried to create the sense of these recordings by dipping into them. The sound edits are a collaboration with Sarah Cuddon. It’s always great to work with someone else; two sets of ears or eyes always see or hear different things. In this case Sarah incorporated the midwife, Rebecca Jefferson, talking about her work, using the idea of waters breaking.

She collected all the recordings of weather sounds on her travels around the UK and included file titles such as ‘Rain on tent’ and ‘Stream in the North of England’.”
