How to play snap

The aim of snap is for players to match cards. Here’s a set of rules for how to play:

  • The game works best with 2-4 players.
  • Deal the cards out, face down, evenly between the players.
  • Each player should pick up their pile of cards and keep them face down.
  • The youngest player goes first, taking their top card and laying it face up on the table.
  • Players then take turn laying cards, face up, on top of each other.
  • When two cards match, the player who shouts ‘snap’ first, wins the pile of cards.
  • The player who ends up with all the cards wins.

Dialect Dominoes

Welcome to our game of Dialect Dominoes! Here you’ll find domino tiles with well known (and some lesser well known) dialect words.

 How to play dominoes

Dominoes works best with 2-4 players.

  • Lay the tiles face down on the table and shuffle them.
  • Each player should pick 7 tiles and stand them up on their sides so their opponents can’t see what they have. Keep the rest of the dominoes, still face down, to one side.
  • Pick a player to lay the first tile.
  • Players then take turns laying a tile at a time which matches those already laid on the table. E.g. a breadcake tile can join onto another breadcake tile.
  • If a player can’t go, they must pick up a tile from the pile of left over dominoes. They must either play the domino, or if they can’t use it, keep it.
  • The winner is the person who gets rid of their tiles first.
